Where to go and what to see!

Devon offers an abundance of opportunities to explore and discover. Positioned midway between the rugged north coast and the English Riviera on the south Devon coast (just 45 minutes away) you will find yourselves in the perfect place to start a holiday. From a gentle stroll down a country lane, a visit to a National Trust property or RHS Rosemoor and one of the many beautiful gardens in the South West, a day out at a local tourist attraction, or a more energetic ramble or cycle ride on Dartmoor National Park, the choice is yours.

The village of Sampford Courtenay is renowned for its involvement in the Prayer Book Rebellion of 1549 of which there is reference to in St Andrew's church (Grade 1 listed). With information about the regular events hosted by the village hall, St Andrew's church and The New Inn, plus local history and photographs, the village website is a very useful point of reference.

Further afield, the Dartmoor visitor centre at Princetown is a great place to find out all there is to know about this 365 square mile expanse of breathtaking wilderness. Inspired by this, you will want to discover for yourself the beauty of this amazing space and the towns and villages within, and surrounding, the moorland area. Visit the many galleries of artists and crafts people whose works reflect their beautiful surroundings.

When you are ready for refreshment, you will always find a wonderful selection of cafes/tearooms, pubs and restaurants offering a warm welcome and quality locally sourced, home cooked cuisine.
